Frequently Asked Questions

Getting a piercing

We work exclusively by appointment. We do this with the reason that all attention is for you. No queues at the door or rush during your piercing moment. See it as a luxury moment for yourself.

That is absolutely no problem! We work exclusively with titanium, 14kt gold or 18kt gold jewelry, all of which are completely nickel-free. So you never have to doubt the quality of the jewelry.

At All Perfectly Pierced, the helix and hidden helix piercings are very popular. The helix piercing is located on the outer edge of the ear and gives a cool, striking look. The hidden helix is a more subtle variant, which is located slightly lower and is partly hidden behind the ear cartilage rim. This makes it perfect if you want a piercing that is not always immediately visible, but still gives a stylish accent.

Are you curious about the differences, healing process and care of these piercings? Then definitely read our blogs:

We work by appointment only so that we can provide sufficient time and attention.

We recommend a maximum of 2 to 3 piercings per session. This allows your body to recover properly and prevents overload.

At All Perfectly Pierced, we always pierce with a sterile needle or, when appropriate for the piercing, a sterile piercing blade. We do not use a piercing gun.

A needle or piercing blade is specifically designed to pass through the skin in a controlled and precise manner. This allows for more careful placement and greater attention to the anatomy of your ear.

A piercing gun operates with pressure and is primarily used for quick earlobe piercings. For cartilage piercings, we do not believe this method is appropriate. Cartilage requires time, precision, and a gentle approach. That is why we opt for a professional needle technique, sterile materials, and a suitable initial piece of jewelry.

This way, your piercing gets a safe and gentle start, with more attention to placement, healing, and the final result.

The price of a piercing depends on the location, type of piercing, and the jewelry you choose. At All Perfectly Pierced, we work with high-quality piercing jewelry, such as implant-grade titanium and 14k or 18k gold. As a result, the total price per piercing can vary.

During your appointment, we will work together to find what suits your ear, your wishes, and your budget. We always give honest advice on what is safe and suitable as initial jewelry. Well-placed jewelry of the correct size and quality is important for a smooth healing process.

Healing and aftercare

How nice that you are still interested in getting a piercing. With the experience of our piercers, you have come to the right place. We can answer all your questions and explain in detail what you can expect from your piercing and appointment. You are of course very welcome to come and orientate yourself first and then come and get the piercing at a later time. In our shop you really have a private moment and extra time can be scheduled if necessary. You can also bring a friend or parent if that gives you support.

Of course! We have specially made the appointment 'Piercing panic' available for this. We will look with you at what is going on and by asking various questions we will try to find out how we can make your piercing(s) completely happy and healthy.

For many piercings, the initial jewelry is inserted a bit longer to allow for swelling during the initial healing phase. Once the swelling has subsided, that bar can become too long. It can then move, tilt, or become irritated more easily. At that point, downsizing may be necessary.

Downsizing means we replace the initial bar with a more suitable length. This helps your piercing heal more calmly and prevents unnecessary pressure or irritation. This is often an important step, especially for cartilage piercings such as a helix, conch, flat, or tragus.

Are you unsure if your piercing needs a shorter bar? Then book a check-up appointment, and we'll take a look with you.

No, preferably not. Sleeping on a new piercing can cause pressure, friction, and irritation. This can cause the piercing to heal crookedly, remain sensitive, or develop a fluid bump. This is especially important for cartilage piercings such as a helix, hidden helix, conch, tragus, flat, or rook.

Try to sleep on the other side for the first period. A clean travel pillow or special piercing pillow can help, as it keeps your ear free and reduces pressure on the piercing. Also, make sure your pillowcase is washed regularly.

A new piercing needs rest. The less pressure and movement, the greater the chance of a beautiful and peaceful healing.

With a new piercing, it's advisable to be careful with swimming, saunas, and intense exercise. Swimming pools, natural water bodies, jacuzzis, and saunas can increase the risk of irritation or infection, especially in the initial phase of healing.

Exercising is usually fine, as long as your piercing is not hit, chafed, or put under pressure. Pay close attention to helmets, headphones, sportswear, and towels. Sweat is not immediately a disaster, but clean your piercing afterwards according to your aftercare instructions.

Are you unsure if something is advisable with your piercing? Feel free to ask us. We prefer to think with you in advance rather than your piercing getting unnecessarily irritated.

Age, Hygiene, and Safety

Up to the age of 16 you need written permission and the presence of a parent/guardian
necessary. From the age of 16 you can decide for yourself, with the exception of certain piercings (such as nipple/intimate piercings, then from the age of 18).

Don't forget your ID.

Absolutely! Our studio is fully approved by the GGD , which means that we work according to the official hygiene guidelines of the National Center for Hygiene and Safety.

No, at All Perfectly Pierced, we do not perform new piercings during pregnancy. During pregnancy, your body is busy, and your immune system, blood circulation, and healing process may react differently than usual. Since a new piercing is always a wound that needs to heal properly, we believe it's wiser to wait until after your pregnancy.

Immediately after childbirth or during the period when your body is still recovering, you may also react more sensitively than usual. Are you unsure when it's safe to get a piercing again? Feel free to contact us, and we'll be happy to advise you.

Safety and a smooth healing process are always our top priorities.

Piercing jewelry and materials

No, we only use sterile, certified jewelry with a composition known to us.

That is absolutely no problem! We work exclusively with titanium, 14kt gold or 18kt
gold jewelry, all of this completely nickel free. So you never have to doubt the quality of the jewelry.

When you can change your piercing depends on the location, the healing, and the type of jewelry you are wearing. A piercing may look calm on the outside, while the tissue inside is still vulnerable. That's why it's important not to change it too soon.

For a new piercing, we usually recommend having it checked first to see if it's calm enough. Sometimes a downsize is needed before you switch to different jewelry. Patience is especially important with cartilage piercings.

Do you want to switch to different jewelry, for example, 14k gold or a more pronounced styling piece? Then book a jewelry change or check-up appointment. We will then safely insert the jewelry and immediately check if your piercing is ready for it.

Yes, at All Perfectly Pierced you can get personal ear styling. During an ear styling appointment, we look at your ear, existing piercings, anatomy, skin tone, style, and the jewelry you like. Based on this, we create a plan that suits you.

Ear styling is not just about getting as many piercings as possible. It's about balance, placement, and jewelry that together form a calm and refined whole. Sometimes we recommend a new piercing, sometimes it's better to first upgrade existing piercings with different jewelry.

Whether you want one subtle detail or want to build a complete ear styling step by step, we are happy to think along with you.

Ear styling, ear curation, stacked ears, and ear party are often used interchangeably. They all refer to the deliberate combination of earrings, piercings, and jewelry to create a beautiful whole. With an ear party, the emphasis is often on a playful mix of jewelry. Stacked ears usually refers to multiple piercings worn in layers or combinations on the ear.

Ear curation and ear styling go a step further. We don't just look at individual pieces of jewelry, but at your ear as a whole: the shape of your ear, existing piercings, new possibilities, skin tone, style, and the balance between left and right.

At All Perfectly Pierced, we usually call this ear styling. We don't create a random collection of piercings, but a personal ear styling that is perfect in placement, material, and appearance. A bump next to your piercing is common and doesn't always mean your piercing is infected. Often, such a bump is caused by irritation, pressure, sleeping on the piercing, excessive movement, a jewelry that is too long or unsuitable, or overzealous aftercare.

Do not squeeze, twist, or experiment with aggressive agents like alcohol, tea tree oil, or wound ointment. These can further irritate the piercing. Leave the piercing alone as much as possible and follow your aftercare instructions.

If the bump persists, worsens, or if you're unsure about the cause, book a Piercing Panic appointment. We will calmly examine the placement, the jewelry, and your aftercare with you, so we can advise on what is best in your situation.
