Piercing can be done in various ways. First, the skin will be cleansed, and you'll be asked about your preferences and a good placement will be determined. A dot will be placed, which you can examine and approve. Be sure about the placement or ask if the dot can be moved higher or lower, or whatever you prefer. A dot is easy to move, but the new piercing isn't ;). Don't hesitate to do so. The piercer may also advise against a different placement, and this will be explained to you.
Of course, make sure the piercer wears gloves and works as sterile as possible. Ask questions along the way if you have any questions; a professional piercer will be happy to answer them! For example, are you feeling very nervous or faint easily? Let your piercer know so they can reassure you. You can also indicate if you don't want to see a needle or if you want the piercer to count down, or not ;)
A successful piercing starts with proper preparation. Always choose a professional piercing studio that adheres to strict hygiene standards. A clean environment, experienced piercers, and clear communication are essential. Take the time to read reviews and feel free to ask about the piercer's certifications or licenses—it's your body, after all. Get to know All Perfectly Pierced better here.
The jewelry you start with also plays a significant role in the healing process. Hypoallergenic materials like titanium or real gold (14 or 18 karat) are ideal for preventing irritation. Read more about the effect of material choice on the healing process of your new piercing in our blog.
And finally, avoid blood thinners like alcohol or aspirin before your appointment. These can increase the risk of bleeding and negatively impact recovery.
Piercing is still offered in many places, such as the jeweler on the corner. Many piercers advise against piercing.
This is because the piercing gun can't be cleaned properly, making it unhygienic and unsafe. Furthermore, the needle (the earring itself) is much blunt compared to the needle used for piercings, causing more damage than necessary. Piercers also have much more experience with piercings, and you're guaranteed a better placement of your new earring/piercing.
Clamp piercing involves the use of a sterile needle, clamp, and, of course, sterile jewelry. After the placement (the dot) is approved , a clamp is placed on your earlobe, and the piercing is performed shortly afterward. The needle creates the hole and will remain in your ear/nose/skin (or a cannula—a plastic tube) when the clamp is removed. The jewelry will then be inserted immediately afterward. A small ball or crystal is added, a quick cleanup, and you're done!
Freehand piercing uses only a sterile needle and, of course, sterile jewelry. The piercer's hands act as a kind of clamp replacement. Every piercer has their own preferred method.
After the placement (the dot) is approved, your ear/skin will be grasped, and the puncture will follow shortly after. The needle will create the hole and will remain (or the cannula—a plastic tube) afterward. The jewelry will then be inserted immediately. Just add a piece of jewelry, a little cleaning, and you're done!
